We are working with the County of Hawaii to build a new pump track adjacent to the skate park in Waikoloa Village. The pump track will serve both local keiki and experienced riders. The county has indicated support for the project, and we are currently awaiting formal approval. Funding will primarily come from community donations.
A pump track is a purpose-built track for cycling. It is a closed circuit of rollers, banked turns and features designed to be ridden completely by riders "pumping"—generating momentum by up and down body movements, instead of pedaling or pushing.
Pump tracks are enjoyed by both new and expert riders because they're easy for anyone to ride. But they take skill and fitness to ride with style and flair. Even keiki on scoot bikes love riding pump tracks.
Example of a pump track from Port Angeles, WA
We'll build the pump track with an asphalt surface for durability and low maintenance in Waikoloa Village's dry and sunny climate. Exact layout and features are subject to change based on County approval and our fundraising success.
We need your support to make the pump track happen. Funding for the track will come from a variety of grants and private donations. More info coming soon. In the mean time you can contact us if you'd like to get involved.
